Just a Thought
So I e-mailed my contact at the ISS last night inquiring as to whether there was anything I should know about my upcoming trip and whether they had decided to take me up on the offer of me doing some volunteer work while I was there to which he replied "The head of our unit will speak with you about that when you get here. We look forward to your arrival." Very ominous.

Man - you can be such a pessimist at times (I love you, but its true).
ReplyDeleteIts just an email - you have no idea what sort of intonation or facial expressions he would have made had he said it in person. It might be that they've got a super awesome project they want to invite you in on - you have NO idea :)
In fact, the only negative or positive wording I see is "we look forward to your arrival" - they're excited, its good!
Right?

Perhaps Ominous wasn't the best word choice, since if they actually have a volunteer position for me I can't imagine it would be bad. It was however followed up by a message from someone else within the office who made it sound like there may not be a need for me to volunteer there which would be disappointing. However, I was not feeling very pessimistic when I wrote this, just commenting on the tone, and I really don't appreciate being lectured on my own blog.
